Bundesinnenminister Alexander Dobrindt bezeichnete den Fund einer mit Sprengstoff beladenen Drohne am Flughafen Leipzig als ein "neues Bedrohungsszenario", bei dem ausländische Mächte als mögliche Drahtzieher nicht ausgeschlossen werden können. Die Vermutung fiel schnell auf Russland, nicht zuletzt wegen des Fundortes der Drohne: Sie wurde in der Nähe von ukrainischen Antonow-Transportflugzeugen entdeckt, die am Vortag Munitionslieferungen in die Ukraine abfertigten. Hinzu kommt, dass bereits im Jahr 2024 mehrere Brandsätze in Luftfrachtpaketen versandt wurden, wobei eines davon am DHL-Terminal in Leipzig in Brand geriet. Nur durch Zufall konnte ein Feuer an Bord eines DHL-Flugzeugs verhindert werden. Die Ermittler gehen davon aus, dass diese Pakete im Auftrag des russischen Militärgeheimdienstes GRU versandt wurden.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the discovery of a drone laden with explosives at Leipzig Airport as a "new threat scenario," with foreign powers not being ruled out as possible masterminds.
